One of the most awesome perks of being a
FoodBuzz featured publisher is that you get the opportunity to be a Tastemaker and try new products! I love getting free things...free foodie things at that! I recently received a package containing a few of Emeril's products...Emeril's All-Natural Chicken Stock, Emeril's Chicken Rub and these two beauties that I used in the following recipe...Emeril's Kicked Up Horseradish Mustard and Emeril's Original Essence Seasoning.
BAM! You
know you can't resist saying it. Okay,
I know I can't resist saying it! Boy it's hard to empty your pantry when you get more fillers in the mail. I'm not complaining. But, this is the last meal I made in my pantry/fridge-cleaning extravaganza. I hit the market the very next day.

I want to give a big shout-out to Palidor of
Crazy Asian Gal for passing me this Premio Meme! award. If you do not know her, you must go visit her...she has some crazy delicious food over there...and she gives a big thank you to each new person who joins/follows her blog (sweet, huh)...so quick go bombard her and see how many thanks she has to put up on her next post...LOL!! Thanks Palidor :D This award states that we're supposed to share 7 of our personality traits...since I've done this before, I won't bore you. You can click
here if you'd like to find out what I said. And I just know that you know that I'm gonna break the rules and not pass it on to 7 people...since I've passed it on before. Maybe I'll just hold it for later....speaking of passing things on....
I was tagged by Jenn of
Bread + Butter to receive The Joy of Reading award....cool. Here's the skinny on this particular "tag" or "award":
1. Collect the book that you have most handy.
2. Turn to page 161
3. Find the 5th complete sentence.
4. Site the sentence on your blog
5. Pass it on to 5 other bloggers.
I imagine that most or all of you know that I love books. Can not get enough of them. I've told you of mexi's comments that we have more than the library. One of my all-time favorite quotes is...."A room without books is like a body without a soul." -anonymous This is so obviously the reason that I have books spread throughout the house...although I actually draw the line at the bathroom. Ewww, no thanks. The book I have most handy is actually a stack of 8 books, so...I'll pick a couple of them and share with you. Because I just know you're interested in how diverse I am. Why yes, I do practice sarcasm, why do you ask?
The first book I have handy is The French Chef Cookbook by Julia Child (come on, you knew one would be a cookbook) and the chosen sentence is: Pour fat out of browning skillet, pour in 2 cups of stock or bouillon, and boil, scraping up coagulated browning juices. Sheesh, now I'm hungry. Doesn't take much.
Another of the books in my current pile is The Zen of Eating by Ronna Kabatznick, Ph.D and the chosen sentence here is: You learn that mindfulness is something you can trust. Indeed.
Ok..so those are like major gourmet sloppy joes. They're even too good for their name! (I'm to sexy for myself LOL) sorry....that song just cracks me up. anyways...and the red potato chips look way yummy!! I just recently bought my first ever mandolin...LOVE IT!
ReplyDeleteThe potato chips with black truffle sea salt! Gal! You for sure are a gourmet foodie!
ReplyDeletep.s. not many chances for publishers outside the states.........:-!*
Mmmm...Sloppy joes. Brings back so many memories. I got the Emeril stuff, too. I'm stil trying to decide what i can make with them. Though, I have a feeling I'll be using the stock soon.
ReplyDeleteGreat quotes. It's always funny when cookbook is near and the sentence is an ingredient or direction.
Okay so I know you didn't tage me, but I'm playing along anyway :-)
ReplyDeletePage 161 in the book closet to me is a picture of biscotti! Page 160 says "Add lemon zest, cranberries and pistachios, and mix til well combined." ~Martha's Cookies :-)
I have to tell you how impressed I am with your freshly fried potato chips. That picture of the sloppy joe and the chips is making my mouth water. like seriously!
You will have to rename this recipe to "Fancy Josephines"
ReplyDeleteLOL, you make me laugh! Congrats on your reading award. I'm totally with you on books. I've got far too many, as well.
ReplyDeleteOkay, so you make your own potato chips?? That's so awesome! And you say you don't have the courage to make bagels. Deep-frying totally scares me! If you can deep-fry, you can do anything.
I want to try both of these- they look great!
ReplyDeleteYUM YUM YUM!!! Girli, I would love to have one of those sloppy joes here. Oh my, those really do sound kicked way up LOL. And your chis. Just pass them on them on over here!!
ReplyDeleteThose sloppy joes look fantastic. I have some black truffle sea salt that I brought back from Paris. What a great idea to sprinkle it on chips. I'm making that one today. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteYum, I can't wait to try Emeril's seasonings. Hopefully they make it up here soon.
ReplyDeleteGreat idea to do sloppy joes, my son loves them.
Thanks so much for thinking of me!
I will give you my sentence here.
I am currently reading Kathy Reichs, "Fatal Voyage".
The sentence in question is:
"I filled his dish and left him to ponder his sodden world."
I always get sloppy joes at the neighborhood burger joint. I'd love to make my own.
ReplyDeleteYou did a fantastic job. You really took the Sloppy Joe's and Chips up a few notches!

ReplyDeleteYour reminded me of how long it's been since I had a good ole sloppy joe. Thess look outstanding! Love the home-made chips on the side.
ReplyDeleteSally (and you will always be Sally to me),
ReplyDeleteHomemade potato chips with BLACK TRUFFLE SEA SALT... are you kidding me, how can I cook these on a grill? Pray for rain so I can justify making this indoors. They look fabulous. I want your photo skills so bad.
Reminds me of a great restaurant here in Kansas City (don't laugh, it's god's country) called J. Gilbert's Steakhouse. They serve homemade chips with sea salt and sprinkle a bit of blue cheese on them. Just an idea.
One more BTW, Emeril's kicked up horseradish mustard makes a great moist rub for brisket.
Dave to everyone else, Herman to you
I love Sloppy Joes...yum! Yours looks amazing and very flavorful. I also love the added homemade chips.

LOVE sloppy joes. Crazily, I only first saw them in this movie that Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen starred in. One of them were some kind of "princess" snob and turned her nose up to sloppy joes, but after giving it a taste she fell in love. Sadly, I don't think any of them have let her lips touch these delicious sloppy joes ever again.
ReplyDeleteI wanna be a TAstemaker too! Sounds freaking cool. Where do I sign up?
The sloppy joes look excellent and I do love the idea of black truffle salt on the potato chips. Yum!
ReplyDeleteGreat idea using the spices for sloppy joes. I love love love the chips!
ReplyDeleteNice, looks awesome. I love sloppy joes, I've been craving them recently too.
ReplyDeleteI got the same package, but I still haven't decided what I'm going to do with it. Well, I put the mustard on a ham sandwich, but that doesn't count. It was good though.
Those look great together...one of our favorite meals kicked up a notch, as Emeril might say :)
ReplyDeleteI love a good sloppy joe--these look great. I was impressed with his seasonings--they are very good. Have to love FoodBuzz! ;-)
ReplyDeleteI so want to try your chips, they look fabulous! Now I'm craving something salty.. :)
ReplyDeleteI have never had a sloppy joe - they are one of those architypal American things that I don't think you get anywhere else! They look good, but how on earth do you eat them?
ReplyDeleteCat...ANYWAY YOU CAN!!! LOL! But seriously, bent over a plate for sure :) You should make them at least once. I didn't know it was mainly an "American" dish...huh.
ReplyDeleteThose chips look awesome!!
