I'm going on a picnic and I'm bringing...
Turkey & Pear Wraps w/ Curried Aioli.
Turkey & Pear Wraps w/ Curried Aioli.
I'll start by giving you the recipe I used for these killer wraps that I'm packing for my picnics all week long. OH! And fair warning...you'll have some major breath after eating these. But they're soooo worth it! Especially if you use really good turkey. The pungeant heat of the aioli is cooled by the slices of pear and lettuce. The onion adds more punch and the turkey rounds it out perfectly. I definitely hope you take one of these wraps at the picnic.
Turkey & Pear Wrap w/ Curried Aioli
from Mark Bittman's Kitchen Express
Mix half a cup of mayonnaise (or plain yogurt) with some minced garlic and about a tsp. of curry powder. Lightly toast flour tortillas in a skillet for ~20 seconds per side. Spread the aioli on the tortillas; evenly layer a lettuce leaf, a thin slice of red onion, thinly sliced pears, and some turkey on top. Roll the tortillas tightly, cut them on the bias, and serve.
Now, for the Picnic Game...to play the picnic game, you start with letter A and list what you're bringing that starts with an A, then move on to B, and so on. Each blogger coming to the picnic picks a letter and then gathers everybody's contributions in one place! Let's begin...

How fun is that Heather:D
ReplyDeleteHeather, I am in love with those turkey wraps! The combination of flavors is right up my alley. Love curry, love pears, love my Whole Foods turkey from the deli.... Thanks so much for this idea! I'm just back from Vacation, I wish I had time to play the picnic game!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun little game! What a delicious looking wrap too :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous wrap, Heather! Turkey or chicken are delicious with pear...love them together in a salad too... and adding curry to the aioli tops the flavor off perfectly!
ReplyDeleteThe picnic game is fun! Can't wait to see everyone else's recipes.
Oh YUM! You can go to the beach with me any time you feel like it! Beware if the wind blows up some sand, the wraps get a little gritty :)

I would SO take curry breath in exchange for this wrap! I bet it would be great with some mango mixed in!
ReplyDeleteFun! I love anything curry and the combo with the pear and turkey sounds delicious. Thanks for sending it to Souper Sundays. ;-)
ReplyDeleteSounds mouthwatering! I am currently in love with sandwiches made with warm Tandorri naan. I am seriously hooked, even though the naan is purchased from the deli not homemade LOL.
ReplyDeleteAnd to think I've only had aioli on linguine! What world do I live in?
ReplyDeleteThat wrap looks incredibly awesome!!! Turkey, curry powder, pears and zip! Oh goodness!
I'll be enjoying that zesty sandwich on the picnic for sure. It's a good thing it's virtual...

I love the idea of the picnic game, very cute! These wraps look loaded with goodies and sure to please. Bittman was a little vague about the minced garlic. My guess is that you weren't shy at all ;-)
