I am super excited to be hosting Food 'n Flix this month right here at girlichef! I've decided to send it on the road and make it a traveling event. Thanks to everybody who has volunteered to host a month so far...so many great films coming up.
My choice for this month's flick is Under the Tuscan Sun. Based on the the true story of Frances Mayes...and the dream-world story of yours truly. This is one of my favorite foodie-travel-dreamer-chic flicks of all time. Each time I watch this movie (or read the book...but we're only talking about the movie right now), I want to hop the first flight to Italy. I want to find a villa in Tuscany that is neglected and in need of love. I want to pick olives from trees on my own land and and meet handsome Italians and cook food to share with my new friends and linger the rest of my days away in the gorgeous Tuscan country side. I better clarify that I only want to meet handsome Italians to introduce to my single friends and family. Of course I plan on bringing Mexi and the kids with me.
Are you in the mood for a Tuscan Adventure? Simply watch your copy, your neighbors copy, a copy from the library...whatever!...of Under the Tuscan Sun. Then head into the kitchen and get cooking. Full details below.

Ok, this time I'm catching it early with a whole month to play along! I just added the button to my sidebar too, hopefully that will be a reminder so I don't forget this time - it's such a cool idea!
ReplyDeleteHope you are having a great weekend :-)
lovely movie choice :)

After I read all of Frances Mayes books - I went out and planted tons of baby lettuces so I could fix her salad of baby lettuces at a moments notice. Fine book, lovely movie - great salads.
ReplyDeleteThis is one of my favorites movies!! gloria
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun idea! Sadly, I've never watched this movie. Well, at least not in its entirety. I've seen bits and pieces of it when it's been on TV, but that's it. It never showed up in our local video rental place. (Neither have Julie & Julia, nor Eat. Pray. Love.) :(
ReplyDeleteWould it count if I read the book and then created something in the kitchen?
Leslie...while you know that I am a huge bookworm, typically at Food'n Flix we just use the film (since they always differ...even true stories). Have you ever tried Amazon Instant Video? You can buy a title from Amazon and watch it right on your computer for typically about $2.00...I added a link at the end of the post if you want to try that. BUT, if you really, really are not able to find the video anywhere, then by all means, read the book and join in! =)
ReplyDeleteSadly, I've never seen this movie, but you just made me want to!
ReplyDeleteThank you for adding the link to the Instant Video, but like most online video rentals, it's not available for people living outside the U.S.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to hunt around to see if I can find a copy somewhere. And in case I don't find one, I just bought the book for my Kindle. :)
Heather,
ReplyDeleteIm watching the movie later today :)
Have a great week!
What a great idea of the event with this theme and concept. Love it. I have seen the movie (long back). Need to watch it again :)
ReplyDeleteOK, I'm seriously out of school for one month and so I am seriously going to participate this month, Heather. Thanks for the heads up about this month's theme.
