Cinco de Mayo is right around the corner, so of course I need to test out a few new margarita flavors. Now, I should tell you that last week I received a delivery that contained a few samples of Partida tequila for the purposes of joining in the #limepocalypse that's happening in the US right now.
Limepocalypse, you ask? Well, turns out that due to the bad weather and a substandard harvest of limes from Mexico (our main importer), lime prices have begun to climb sky-high. I have noticed that they are at least double what they used to be in my area. I used to be able to buy anywhere from 7-12 limes for $1 at the Mexican market and about 3 for the same price at the "regular" market. When I looked a couple of days ago, they were 99 cents each. Now, I wasn't at the Mexican market, so I need to head over there to see if they've raised that high over there, as well.
But anyhoo, in honor of she made, ella hace, the #limepocalypse, AND Cinco de Mayo closing in, I decided to switch out the limes that I usually use for making margaritas for lemons! The raspberry part comes in the form of Chambord (raspberry liqueur). Top the whole thing off with a little lemonade and you're left with a lightly tart cocktail that is perfect when sipped from a glass rimmed with sugar.
Now, I'm guessing that, living IN Mexico and all, Leslie probably has everyday access to limes. So, how much do you want to bet that her Margaritas de Cerveza (Beer Margaritas) have some for squeezing (hint: go find out)?
And since I have never even tried a Beer Margarita, I think I'm going to make myself a glass of hers this weekend. You know, for the purpose of testing. Oh, and in case you didn't figure it out already, we decided on COCKTAILS (and of course we both went with a margarita) as our theme this month.
Raspberry Lemonade Margaritas
This Raspberry Lemonade Margarita may stray from tradition, but the addition of Chambord is a happy one. Enjoy this tart cocktail with a sugared rim.

What happens when two American girls who are both married to Mexican guys find out that although one of them lives in the U.S. and one of them lives in Mexico, they both love eating the same food? Well, naturally they decide to get "together" the only way they can and cook up the same dishes. Or perhaps take the same ingredients and talking about them in their own voice or using them in their own way.
Leslie and I have teamed up to occasionally cook/bake/make a our own versions of the same food. We want to see how similar (or how different) they turn out. Other times we will pick an ingredient and use it however we choose...or maybe just talk about it. Good food knows no borders and we hope to share the food we love with you. It's not a competition, it's a showcase. We will post on the same day as each other and would love to hear your thoughts on what we've made and how you make it.

I received three sample-size bottles of Partida Tequila at no cost. All opinions stated in this post are my own.
