Today's installment of In the Kitchen with Zombie Fiction features the zombie film that started it all for me, Shaun of the Dead. It kicked off my love affair with the fabulously funny and clever due that is Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, but also my appreciation for zombie stories that don't necessarily center around the zombies, but rather, the people trying to stay human.
If by some chance you haven't seen Shaun of the Dead, go ahead and watch it...I'll wait.

A couple of weeks ago, I shared this Spotted Dick (boiled pudding) with Boozy Custard Sauce that was inspired by the movie Logan for the #XMenu Fandom Foodies event hosted over at Food 'n Flix, and today I'm back with another recipe inspired by the same movie.

Just the Essentials | #TLCBookTours
Welcome to the TLC Book Tours stop for the latest book by Adina Grigore, author of Skin Cleanse and founder of S.W. Basics—Just the Essentials! Just the Essentials is a guide to using the restorative powers of essentials oils in your daily routine.
I'm fairly familiar with essential oils and their many benefits and uses, and was taught to use them by my mom when I was younger. That said, while I often purchase natural, locally made health and beauty products, I've never really ventured into mixing up my own—at least not for beauty purposes. My hands-on experience consists mainly of natural for-the-home remedies (cleaners, pest control, etc) and aromatherapy (stress relief, cold relief).

Homemade Soda Crackers (Saltines) | Best Laid Plans & Other Disasters
Welcome to the book tour stop for the latest book by Amy Rivers, Best Laid Plans & Other Disasters. I didn't realize until after I'd read this book that it was the second book in a trilogy. I may have originally been told, but if I was, I forgot. While I think it stands on its own just fine, there were a couple of instances where the main character, Gwen, referenced something that previously happened to/with her cousin and best friend, Val. That did make me wonder if I'd missed an earlier book, but I convinced myself this wasn't a series, and that was just the way it was written.

Spotted Dick w/ Boozy Custard Sauce inspired by Logan | #XMenu
This film takes place in 2029, and we see that Logan is deteriorating, both inside and out, and is pretty dependent on alcohol. He and Caliban are taking care of Dr. Xavier in a deserted building in Texas, while Logan saves money to buy a Sunseeker, so that they can sail away from everything.

Pan-Seared Salmon w/ Mixed Greens Pesto & Lentil Black Rice Salad
Today is the first Friday of the Lenten season, and in honor of that, Leslie and I are sharing fish and seafood recipes for today's edition of She Made, Ella Hace. So, here's the thing—I wasn't raised Catholic (and I'm not Catholic now), so I've never done the whole abstaining from meat on Fridays during Lent thing. And while my husband was raised Catholic, he's not a practicing Catholic now.
