This month I hosted Food 'n Flix with a bit of an obscure (I think) movie choice. Fun, quirky, heartwarming, and filled with beautiful inspiration in both the garden and the kitchen...we created recipes inspired by the film This Beautiful Fantastic!
I think this is a film that invites you to explore your imagination and aspire to more, but in doing so, don't forget to open your eyes to what you already have. You might find that that is exactly the combination that you need in your life.
I believe that this was everybody else's first time seeing (and even hearing of) This Beautiful Fantastic, and I love that most of them enjoyed it very much. If you've never seen it, check out the trailer, then scroll down to see what everybody brought to the garden party this month!

Although game hens aren't actually seen in this film, Amy from Amy's Cooking Adventures believes her Orange Glazed Cornish Game Hens sounds like something that Vernon might have made. I have to agree!
Camilla from Culinary Adventures with Camilla made not only this gorgeous Salad with Greens, Microflowers, and Summer Berries, but a whole menu featuring a "sea of petals" inspired by our flick this month!
Joining us for the first time this month via Instagram is Margarita of Flora-and-drawna who feels this "story of a control freak turning into a flower goddess" is perfect for midsummer with its "gorgeous flower assortment in the garden, love awakening, letting go and getting loose, dissolving in the nature", representing it with her Flower Punch. (Margarita joins us from Russia, so you may need to hit translate, or you can check out the repost on the Food 'n Flix instagram page that is written in English.)
Wendy from A Day in the Life on the Farm drew her inspiration from the ducks in the film, creating a menu of Pan Seared Duck Breasts in Blueberry Caramel with Pan Fried Potatoes (made my favorite way - using duck fat!). Isn't it lovely!?
I'm so excited that Debra from Eliot's Eats has added this flick to her "most-favorite" list after watching it for this first time this month! She also took a fun direction with her recipe, drawing inspiration from one of the film's last scenes, set in the garden, with a nod to Billy and Bella's creations, with her Luna's Cocktails.
Inspired by the chocolate oat cookies offered to Bella, Kelley from Simply Inspired Meals took the "trick to making them good" and brought them to life with her Beautiful Fantastic Chocolate Cookies!
And I'll close things out with my recipe...one that's bound to bring a lovely bit of chaos to any orderly situation, A Beautiful Fantastic Eton Mess. There's really so much inspiration to be found in this film that I want to make an entire menu (or more - to span an entire day) centered around it. But I'll save that for another day.
Thank you SO MUCH to everybody who participated, and to everybody who dropped by to check out the Food 'n Flix kitchen escapades this month! Next month we'll be heading into the kitchen with The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Society (you can watch it on Netflix) with Camilla of Culinary Adventures with Camilla. Keep an eye on the Food 'n Flix schedule for this and more upcoming choices!
